Our top tips for planning an Intimate Wedding!

During this pandemic, intimate weddings have been a bride’s only option and very different to the larger day previously planned. Our guess is that although larger weddings will go ahead in 2021, with a global recession and people having a new found outlook on life, smaller, intimate weddings could be a trend that will continue!

In fact, our #vebrides who have gotten married during the pandemic, with crowds of 15 or 30, have said their day felt no less special and that they preferred having less guests.

So if this the day you are looking to plan, keeping reading for how to make your intimate wedding the day of your dreams!

Tip 1: Invest in the digital suppliers.intimate wedding photographer

And by this, we mean photographers, videographers and virtual methods on the day itself. By having less guests at your wedding, it doesn’t mean the distant relatives, work colleagues or those that just missed the cut will not want to be involved. By investing in virtual technology, and skilled videographer/ photographers, you can have lasting records of your day to share with your loved ones.

We love the Zapper App that our friends at Cherrywood Production offer! By downloading an app and zapping a QR code on a photo, that moment in time comes to life as a video on your phone! Super clever and an accessible way for people to be part of your day!  Click here to see what we mean!

intimate weddingTip 2: Focus your décor!

Despite you wanting an intimate wedding, you may have chosen a venue for a grand occasion. If this is the case, we suggest you create focal points for your décor, rather than attempt to decorate the whole venue for a few people.

For example, how about this glamourous table set just for a few guests? With so much to décor in front of them, guests will be spellbound!

And how about creating an Insta-worthy set up for your photographs? As we said in the previous tip, your photographs will become invaluable to some, so we suggest investing in a flower hoop or back drop to create sensational images!

intimate weddingTip 3: Break with tradition

So you have already slashed the guestlist from one hundred and fifty to fifteen….what else do you want for your wedding? With all that has happened in the world, now really is the time to revaluate life and do what makes you happy! Your groom is too nervous to do a speech? Don’t have them, or better yet, do a bride’s speech! You want to re-write your vows, do it! Promising to allow Match of the Day on the TV every week may mean more than ‘love, honour and obey’ to some! You want  a first conga line/ wrestle/vodka shot instead of a first dance to song you don’t even like….do it!

Now is the time to be creative and personalise your wedding to the two of you!

Tip 4: Keep safe!

Let’s not forget that the reason intimate weddings became a thing is due to the Covid pandemic. It is vital that safety is considered, not only by you, but also your wedding suppliers. And we say go one further and embrace it!

Why not give guests welcome packs as they arrive, with a mask and reminder of social distancing procedures at your venue. Or gift your guests some hand sanitiser as one of their wedding favours? Or maybe an additional insert to your invitations explaining how your wedding day will be for those who may be anxious about attending?

If 2020 has taught us anything, it is to care for our loved ones intently and without question. Little touches such as these suggestions may go a long way to allowing your guests to relax and happily share your day with you.

Tip 5: An intimate wedding doesn’t mean you have to skimp on the dress!

As bridal stylists, we had to include this one! We firmly believe that a bride needs to feel like a million dollars on her wedding day so we fully encourage you to find the dress of your dreams! Even if it is for one day only! Even if only a few guests will see it!

An intimate wedding will not make your day any less special, it will be the day you marry the love of your life and you deserve a wedding dress that you look back on and think WOW! And yes….we even mean this if you find it in a different boutique or online or go vintage!

Here’s just a little dress inspiration for you- we think all of these would be brilliant intimate wedding dresses!
