New bridal trend- Part Three: Pearls

wedding ress shopping

If you thought bridal wear was all about lace and silver beading, then fortunately you are incorrect…it is becoming much more contemporary and taking on lots of different bridal trend!

After our recent trip to London Bridal Fashion Week and the constant research we do to understand the wonderful world of bridal, we have selected some of the trends we are noticing to potentially include in your bridal style for 2020 or beyond! This time, we take a look at how pearls are being showcased in bridal wear.

Pearls have always been used in bridal wear, but usually as a subtle way to embellish lace and other fabrics, however we are now seeing a real celebration of pearls on both gowns and accessories.

Effie by Hayley Paige…

is a perfect example of this. Pearls adorn this gown, but aren’t the only modern feature. A bateau neckline, three quarter sheer sleeves and an open square back create a contemporary silhouette. However pearls are encrusted on this gown to add glamour in a more elegant and classy way. Sometimes the ‘silver bling’ you see on gowns is over powering and will attract the eye too much, but on Effie, you have lots of embellishment that enhances the gown, whilst making sure the attention is all on you!

Boleros

Maybe having pearls all over a gown is too much and you want them in a concentrated area, i.e. on your shoulders…well Ellis Bridals have come up with a very clever answer. What you see in the image below is a very simple, strapless, organza ball gown (which will arrive at Victoria Elaine Bridal in October 2019), but to add a bit of detail, the model is wearing a body suit under the gown! This makes the gown you choose so versatile. Maybe you want your shoulders covered somehow for the ceremony but want a different look for the evening- what’s more this is something that could be worn under any strapless gown so you will get lots of wear out of it! The Ava bodysuit will arrive to us later this year!

Accessories

Veils

Moving on to accessories. If you are constantly searching for bridal inspiration, I am sure you would have come across a pearl embellished veil. They are everywhere right now! Below is a version that Hayley Paige has produced. This will go beautifully with the Effie gown, but also anything with either pearls on, or a Mikado/ crepe gown without too much detail. We love this veil in the boutique and think it is a really stylish way to finish off your wedding day look!

Hairpieces

Hairpieces often have pearls involved, along with crystals and other gems. The Duchess tiara by Arianna Tiaras is very popular in store. This is due to its classic shape and amount of pearls included. Handmade with real crystals, it is a really special piece that would match with almost any gown- in store now for £95.00.

If a tiara isn’t your style, then what about these long pearl threaded hair vines to weave in to a plait or loose waves? This is a bridal trend we are seeing more and more of when browsing through our Instagram feed. We think it would be perfect for someone who wants a whimsical feel to their hairstyle! Maybe you would like something to link in with one of our previous trends- florals? This hair vine by Lorna Green Tiaras is made to order from us in the boutique. It contains a range of freshwater and Mother of pearl stones to create a piece that could be worn as both a brow band or threaded in to a hairstyle.

Finally, many of you will go for a plain bridal shoe without much detail. However, there is a way of completing your bridal style from head to toe with pearls. The Guava shoe clip by The Perfect Bridal Company (£20 for a pair) is a great way to add some pearls to ANY SHOE as they just clip on to whatever you like. We love them teamed up with the duchess silk stiletto, Meghan, also available from the boutique.

So if you are a bride who wants embellishment why not look out for some pearly garments to incorporate in to your wedding day outfit! Personally, pearls in bridal is my favourite bridal trend in the market, you simply can not go wrong!
