Destination Wedding Dresses
Our research from our 2019 appointments suggest that approximately one third of our brides are having destination weddings…therefore please allow us to inspire you with some brilliant destination wedding dresses!
Typically, when we have a bride looking for destination wedding dresses, they request that the dress is fairly fitted, lightweight, suitable for travelling (without creasing) but still needs the WOW factor. Ladies, if this applies to you, then I think we may just have something to suit!
Bree
Bree is part of the Duchess 2020 collection by Ellis Bridals. She is the perfect destination wedding dress due to her fit and flare silhouette and lightweight lace. Bree is lined in a jersey fabric, which will keep you cool, and her front knee-height split will also allow your legs to catch a breeze! The WOW with this gown comes in her ‘club’ shaped train!
Bianca
Bianca by Eliza and Ethan is a very feminine and delicate looking bridal gown. Adorned with 3d flowers and all over beading, the sunlight will glisten against this gown perfectly! What we love about Bianca is her versatility. Along with this dress you get the option of a detachable cape, which could also be used as a detachable train or long veil, made to match your gown!
Dylan
Not every bride wants a fitted gown for their destination wedding dress! We think Dylan by Hayley Paige would make the perfect option if you wanted a fuller skirt due to her lightweight tulle and horsehair trim on the hem!
Dylan has a super flattering bodice with pleated polka-dot tulle. The same tulle is used on her handkerchief skirt, which due to the horsehair trim, has a bouncy energy all of its own. This dress is light in weight, would fit in hand luggage and not crease too badly! Its an all round winner!
Carey
Carey is an understated gown that oozes boho elegance! Technically a ballgown due to how the skirt fits on the waist, this gown will give you princess vibes without having to wear a huge skirt. The lace bodice and keyhole back are delicate and like Dylan, this gown would easily fit in hand luggage and you wouldn’t need to worry about creasing.
Darcey
Darcey is a destination wedding dress that dreams are made of! Made from Italian lace, this gown oozes luxury and the sparkle created by subtle sequins will glimmer and glisten wonderfully in sunlight! Every inch of this gown has the WOW factor and the train adds to this. If #TeamVEB were to pick a destination wedding dress, it would be Darcey, just don’t tell our other designers 😉
Our advice to destination brides is to choose your fabrics carefully. You can’t go wrong with tulle, lace or even crepe. You may notice we didn’t choose any satin gowns. Satin is a tricky fabric. The fabric would crease when travelling. We would only suggest a satin destination wedding gown if you knew the venue had a steamer and a trained person to press your gown. It can also be a heavy fabric to wear, and in hot climates this would not be a good match. Satin would show up perspiration stains too. It’s important that you consider these pro’s and cons for bridesmaids as well as yourself.
